The Legacy

Shri G. K. Jain - The Custodian of Heritage

With discerning taste and profound dedication, Shri G. K. Jain elevated the family tradition from creation to preservation. An avid traveler and a meticulous scholar of antiquities, he devoted his life to acquiring, safeguarding, and understanding rare Indian and Mughal artworks gathered from across the world. His pursuits were guided not merely by aesthetic admiration but by a deep intellectual curiosity, one that positioned him among the most respected private connoisseurs of his time.

Over decades, he cultivated enduring relationships with some of the world's foremost cultural scholars and curators, including Robert Skelton, Stuart Cary Welch, Pratapaditya Pal, B. N. Goswamy, Susan Stronge, Rosemary Crill and many more. Their exchanges, rooted in scholarship, mutual respect, and a shared devotion to artistic heritage, enriched the family's standing within global artistic circles and strengthened the academic backbone of the Pheelkhana collection.

For whole of his life, his days have been devoted to the study, conservation, and thoughtful curation of priceless artistic treasures, an enduring testament to his reverence for history and his unwavering commitment to the guardianship of cultural splendour.
